About Our Community Matters

Our Mission

Our Community Matters - Windsor is dedicated to advocating for sustainable development with a focus on family friendly community planning, environmental impact and protection, fire prevention and sane and sustainable infrastructure planning. We are informing and mobilizing individuals to oppose the development of Koi Nation's Shiloh Resort and Casino in Windsor, CA and Sonoma County, CA. Through a comprehensive range of resources, we aim to elevate awareness, engage the community, and gather support to challenge this project that threatens our community's well-being.

Final Comments are DUE on the Shiloh Casino Resort

On November 21, the Department of the Interior published its Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) on the Shiloh Resort and Casino Project. This is a crucial moment for Windsor and Sonoma County residents, as the FEIS opened a critical 30-day public comment period. All comment letters are due December 23, 2024.

This is our most important opportunity to voice our concerns and ensure that our community’s safety and well-being are prioritized! They are trying to jam this through during the holidays, but we can make our voices heard! We need to flood them with letters. We need to be very honest with our emotions and feel free to express our frustration and feelings in our comments!

What They're Saying...

The Koi Nation's Shiloh Resort and Casino Project is opposed by the State of California; County of Sonoma; Town of Windsor, local tribes…and neighbors like you!

State of California -Governor

Gavin Newsom

Matthew Lee, Senior Advisor for Tribal Negotiations & Deputy Legal Affairs Secretary,

Office of Gov. Gavin Newsom

"On behalf of Governor Gavin Newsom, I write to urge the U.S. Department of the Interior not to move forward with the Shiloh Resort and Casino Project in Sonoma County...the Koi Nation of Northern California lacks sufficient historical connection to the Windsor parcel to support the 'restored lands' exception. The Windsor parcel does not fall within the Koi Nation’s aboriginal homeland: it lies approximately fifty miles, over winding mountain roads, from the Lake County region where (as the Koi Nation acknowledges) 'the Koi Nation’s ancestors had villages and sacred sites along the shores of Clearlake since time immemorial.'”

Sonoma County -

Board of Supervisors

Press Release, April 2022

The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors “unanimously adopted a resolution opposing the Koi Nation of Northern California’s attempts to place land southeast of Windsor into trust to build a casino [and] asserted that the Koi Nation lacks the necessary significant historical connection to the lands…As a Southeastern Pomo tribe, the Koi Nation’s historic and ancestral lands lie in Lake County.”

Town of Windsor

Jon Davis,

Windsor Town Manager

“On behalf of Mayor [Rosa] Reynoza and the Town Council of the Town of Windsor, I am writing to express the Town's strong opposition to this project…For the litany of reasons outlined in the Town's response to the EA, as well as those additionally expressed here regarding the location, the Town Council affirms their opposition to this project.”

United States Senators

Alex Padilla &

(the late) Dianne Feinstein

“We write to express our opposition to the Koi Nation’s proposal to acquire land in Sonoma County for the purposes of gaming because it is inconsistent with the Department’s [of Interior’s] policy and regulations … We urge you to consider the arguments on this issue articulated by the broad opposition to this project within Sonoma County, including from all five federally recognized tribes in the County…and the unanimous resolutions of both the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors and the neighboring Town of Windsor.”

U.S. Representatives -

Jared Huffman &

Mike Thompson

“The proposed project would be located in a residential area with elementary schools, parks and religious centers in close proximity. The anticipated traffic and construction from a casino would create unwanted noise and pose a danger to these residents – not to mention its associated air quality and climate impacts. Increased traffic also poses a serious concern when considering wildfire evacuation routes.
